The sports tech industry is booming, and there’s no better time than now to get involved. As of last year, there has been a staggering $1 billion invested in the sports tech space. The TPG sports group hopes to capitalize on the momentum with the Sports Tank competition.

“We hope that we’re able to assist these innovative entrepreneurs in connecting with strategic investors as well as executives in the sports industry. We feel the ability to connect with potential investors and partnership opportunities in one setting makes Sports Tank unique.”

The Sports Tank competition will take place tonight at the NASCAR Hall of Fame in Charlotte, NC. These sports-minded entrepreneurs will pitch their ideas to a panel of judges in hopes of receiving investments to fund their company. Here is this years panel…

“We are very excited about the level of companies coming to Sports Tank. From 1–10 we feel that they all have a real chance to get what they are looking for in regard to funding and partnerships.”

Despite the huge amount of applicants, only 10 companies were chosen to compete. After a 3 minute presentation, each company will have an additional 10 minutes to answer questions and negotiate with the panel.

Here are the 10 companies that will be competing in this years Sports Tank competition.

1. Brizi (Toronto, Canada)

“At Brizi, we are providing an award-winning sports media technology that enables new revenue streams via fan-controlled cameras in-stadium. We empower leagues & clubs with a premium asset that monetizes social content & fan data inside the $60B sponsorship industry.”

“Any fan can go to a simple URL to take temporary control of robotic cameras and capture their high-res in-seat photos wrapped with sponsor or team branding. We then track the real-time authentic shares to social media to develop sophisticated yet meaningful analytics and fan profiles for sponsors and re-targeting opportunities.”

“[from Sports Tank they hope to] Further grow our relationships in the US sports market, extend our international recognition beyond Canada, Europe, and Austral-asia.” — Anna Hu, Co-Founder & Commercial Lead

Representing at Sports Tank will be Srin Sridharan — Co-Founder & CFO

2. Bubbl (New York, NY)

“Bubbl has developed a technology to enable users to grab the exact part of a video they want to share and distribute it across social media networks.”

3. Dasdak (Washington D.C.)

Dasdak is a mobile commerce platform for venues that has been self-funded for the last few years. They offer their clients mobile ordering capabilities as well as several other services focused on improving fan experience. Now, with a profitable business model and a proven track record they are ready to take the big stage.

Our industry has been sullied by a number of other companies promising success, but charging an unreasonable licensing fee up front with no guarantee of performance or success. A lot of venues have tried and failed to offer food and beverage mobile ordering delivery in a profitable model. Either the mobile sales are very low, or the software/model is not profitable. In the end, the client and concessionaire have to do a lot of work and often lose money. Dasdak is focused on generating new revenue for our clients through mobile services…

“We hope to get our message out to other potential clients on how we are generating significant new revenue for clients with little or no risk to them. Furthermore, we hope to communicate that although there are a few companies that claim they provide mobile ordering, there is only one company that has the sales/traction who can also guarantee profitability for all parties. Finally, we were in a proof of concept phase for the last few years and we have self-funded Dasdak. We have a strong pipeline and we are now looking for the right investor/partner to help us grow and scale the business.” — Swaptak Das — Founder & CEO

4. Hashplay (Hamburg, Germany)

“Hashplay looks to change the way computer and video games are enjoyed. Its unique technology allows users to play, share, and watch games in virtual reality.”

“Live gaming is the spectator sport of the virtual age — we believe virtual reality is our entry to this market. Our goal for the event [Sports Tank] is to meet influencers and sponsors who are willing to help us to create the best platform for the most appealing content at a global scale” — Jan-Philipp Mohr (Founder & CEO)

5. IdealSeat (Seattle, WA)

Ideal Seat is looking to improve the live game fan experience by providing ticket buyers with “experience data”…

“Turns out, fans know very little about the tickets they are buying. As a result, fans are missing out on great experiences and teams are missing out on sales. IdealSeat solves this problem by providing data on the seat itself, so that teams and ticketing companies can better market the experience. We are a team of stats geeks and fans ourselves, so our mission is simple — build the world’s best fan intelligence platform so that you can enjoy the game.”

“We are honored to be part of the 2016 Class of Sports Tank companies and are ready to bring our “A” game to the event. We have been really excited to learn from the TPG team and seen all the hard work they’ve put in firsthand. Our business is already stronger as a result of the process. This should be a really special day and we wish all the participants the utmost success.” — Joel Carben CEO & Co-Founder

6. Matcherino (Seattle, WA)

“Matcherino provides a platform that allows the incredibly large eSport audience to crowdfund their own events. Content creation in general will likely use crowd funding mechanics to monetize and help decide what gets created next.”

“We hope to meet industry leaders that can help guide our company and ideally join as investors…. There are so many ways to make the digital experience of fans and celebrity players easier. We’re trying to tackle the ones we find most exciting. “ — Grant Farwell CEO

7. Phazon (Montreal, Canada)

We want to achieve total wireless music freedom. Providing a wireless solution is definitely crucial but we’ve been further than that. We’ve also made a patent pending one-size-fits-all. We’ve tested it on over 500 people and they all agreed the fit was was amazing.

“We’re still primarily knowledgeable in the early tech adopter community, we want to expand that to the mass market. By engaging discussions and possible partnership with the investors and advisors there, we hope we could hack the process to make a huge brand boost.” — Chris Houle Founder & CEO

8. Physmodo (Dallas, TX)

“Physmodo uses 3D sensor technology to capture movement details with extreme precision, bringing objectivity to industries that have historically relied on subjective analysis. We capture over 2,000 data points per second. That lets us complete a functional movement screen — typically 15–20 minutes — in seconds.”

“Whereas raising capital remains a priority, we hope to develop relationships — and potential partnerships — from Sports Tank. We have a solution for established companies whose strong distribution channels may serve as potential Physmodo customers.” — Andrew Menter — CEO

9. Senaptec (Beaverton, OR)

“Senaptec is all about sensory performance. Athletes of all ages and levels can benefit by improving their sensory skills. We provide tools to assess your sensory capability and tell you how you compare to a wide variety of athletes. For example, if you’re a high school baseball pitcher, we can show how you stack-up to other high school pitchers, or to professional players, or to players of entirely different sports. We also give you the training tools to take your sensory performance to the next level. One example is the strobe eyewear, which improve response time and working visual memory and are easily integrated into existing drills and practices.”

“The Senaptec team is excited to present at the 2016 Sports Tank event hosted by TPG. We are looking forward to meeting like-minded entrepreneurs in the sports community and to receiving feedback from sports-focused investors. We also hope to network with potential customers.” — Joseph Bingold — Cofounder and CEO

10. Trago (Austin, TX)

“At Trago, we’ve realized that most athletes, at all levels of play, have no idea what or when to eat or drink to maximize their performance and recovery. Trago is building the world’s first connected smart hydration and nutrition platform for athletes and teams.”

“Trago’s platform will be the first of it’s kind, ultimately leveraging your personal health and activity data to customize a hydration and sports nutrition plan unique to you, your sport, and goals as an athlete. Not only will the Trago platform help increase your energy and performance during a workout, but also ensure you’re getting the right nutrients post workout to aid in muscle recovery and reduce your risk of injury,” — Dr. Mark Kovacs, PhD.

Sports Tank is a unique event and we are excited to get our mission in front of some of the leading names and influencers in the sports world.” — Jac Saltzgiver, Co-founder, CEO
